Unlock the Mysteries Behind the New Acrylics
Are you in love with acrylics paints, but mystified by the mediums? Do you use acrylic mediums as workhorses, rather than experimenting and playing with the infinite and awesome possibilities they could bring to your artistic practices? In the following series of workshops, I will show you how to unfold the mysteries and explore the limitless uses and creative technical applications of acrylic mediums with acrylic paints and mixed media, in either abstract or representational artworks.
Workshop 1 - Acrylic Polymer & Gel mediums - The Ground - How to create beautiful transparent washes
Workshop 2 - Grounds and Textures - Dry Media Ground and Nepheline Ground - Dry Media on the transparencies and textured grounds
Student Material List:
$10 materials fee for pre-prepared supports
Canvas, heavy watercolour rag, birch panels or illustration board (recommended: approx. 4” x 6” to 8”x 10”)
a variety of acrylic brushes, palette knives and other favorite painting tools (I will provide some)
your favourite dry media tools, such as, dry pastels, charcoal, graphite sticks, etc. (I’ll provide some)
Tri-Art Non Stick Palette or similar flat plastic palette
notebook & pencil for notes and sketches
photographs that inspire to use as reference
pizza boxes (to carry home wet art work-optional)
